Unlicensed Cases
Rita Blanck
Case No. 2008-009674
Probable cause was found that Rita Blanck of Aventura, Florida, is not licensed to practice interior design in Florida. Ms. Blanck was previously licensed as an interior designer; however she voluntarily relinquished her license on December 28, 2005. In 2007, on a residential project, her letterhead holds herself out as an interior designer and displays her inactive license number.
An Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed and a Notice and Order to Cease and Desist will be issued.
Abner Cordero
Professional Home Design, Inc.
Case No. 2008-020398
Probable cause was found that Abner Cordero and Professional Home Design, Inc. of Sanford, Florida, is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and contracted to provide signed and sealed drawings for a residential project. Further, Mr. Cordero held himself out as an architect to the client and is offering these services through a corporation without a certificate of authorization. An Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed and a Notice and Order to Cease and Desist will be issued.
Gary D. Cothren
BRC Construction
Case No. 2008-009122
Probable cause was found that Gary D. Cothren and BRC Construction of Jacksonville, Florida, is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida, however Mr. Cothren is a Certified General Contractor. Mr. Cothren prepared a proposal to provide build out drawings for a commercial project. Further, Mr. Cothren is offering these services through a corporation without a certificate of authorization. Mr. Cothren is required to sign an affidavit stating he will not offer such services in the future. If Mr. Cothren fails to return the affidavit, an Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed.
Joseph Dixon III
Case No. 2008-030379
Probable cause was found that Joseph Dixon III of Tampa, Florida, is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida. Mr. Dixon was previously licensed; however, his license went delinquent on March 1, 1997, and then into a null and void status on March 1, 1999. The complaint is based on a case in which Mr. Dixon practiced architecture, held himself out as an architect and used his null and void license number. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist offering architectural services was issued along with the requirement that Mr. Dixon sign an affidavit stating he will refrain from offering architectural services in the future. If Mr. Dixon fails to return the affidavit, an Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed.
Montero Design, Inc.
Carlos Montero
Case No. 2008-011707
Probable cause was found that Montero Design, Inc. and Carlos Montero of Miami Shores, Florida, is not licensed to practice interior design in Florida and contracted to provide interior design services on two commercial projects. Further, Mr. Montero is offering these services through a business entity without a certificate of authorization. An Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed and a Notice and Order to Cease and Desist will be issued.
Ingrid H. Triplett
Architectural Design Services
Case No. 2007-041917
Probable cause was found that Ingrid H. Triplett of Davie, Florida, is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and contracted to provide signed and sealed drawings for a residential project. Further, Ms. Triplett is doing business as Architectural Design Services without a certificate of authorization.A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist offering architectural services was issued along with the requirement that Ms. Triplett sign an affidavit stating she has changed her business name and will not offer such services in the future. If Ms. Triplett fails to return the affidavit, an Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed.
Ben C. Winkler
BWI Design
Case No. 2007-037897
Probable cause was found that Ben C. Winkler and BWI Design of Boca Raton, Florida, is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and is offering “Interior Architecture & Design” on his business card. Mr. Winkler is required to sign an affidavit stating he will change his business card and not offer such services in the future. If Mr. Winkler fails to return the affidavit, an Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed.

Michael Baker
2008-020039
Probable cause was found that Michael Baker of Altamonte Springs, Florida, is a Florida licensed architect. Mr. Baker signed and sealed plans for a residential project that were prepared by an unlicensed draftsman without ever meeting with the client. Further, it is alleged the plans were incorrectly measured and the trusses did not fit properly. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline will be filed.
Scott Gershon
Gershon Group
Case No. 2007-011187
Probable cause was found that Scott Gershon of Aventura, Florida, is a Florida licensed interior designer and entered into a contract for a residential project which was required to be permitted but intentionally circumvented this requirement. Further, Mr. Gershon assisted in the employment of a contractor that was not properly licensed. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline will be filed.
