The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a fine of $15,000.00 plus costs against Shawn Brown.  Mr. Brown is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and contracted to provide architectural services for a commercial project.  Mr. Brown held himself out as an architect.  Further, Mr. Brown is offering such services through a business entity without a certificate of authorization.

 

Steven J. Bruh
Case No. 2006-064774


The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a reprimand and fine of $3,000.00 plus costs against Steven Bruh.  An unlicensed individual prepared drawings for an apartment complex.  Mr. Bruh signed and sealed the drawings.  The unlicensed individual presented the drawings to the Architectural Review Committee of the City of Pompano Beach.  Mr. Bruh was not present during this presentation.

 

Sonia Chao

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a fine of $500.00 fine against Sonia Chao.  The case was based upon a citation which was issued for failure to complete the code curriculum course.  Ms. Chao’s license shall be suspended until she comes into compliance.

 

Paul Christopher Charette

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a reprimand and fine of $3,000.00 plus costs against Paul Charette.  An unlicensed individual entered into a contract to provide architectural drawings for a residential project.  Mr. Charette signed and sealed the drawings without ever meeting with the client. 

 

Dan Craft

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a fine of $5,000.00 plus costs against Dan Craft.  Mr. Craft is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and contracted to provide signed and sealed drawings for a residence.

 

David Davis
Case No. 2006-028523
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $5,000.00 plus costs against David Davis.  Mr. Davis is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida but made a proposal to provide design services for the common area in a condominium complex.

 

Pegi De Mayo
Case No. 2006-039613
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a reprimand and fine of $1,000.00 plus costs against Pegi De Mayo.  The complaint was initiated based on an audit of the continuing education credits claimed by Ms. De Mayo when she renewed her license.  Ms. De Mayo affirmed at renewal that she had completed the required hours.  Ms. De Mayo was chosen for the audit and failed to provide evidence of having taken any continuing education hours.

 

Donald Doran

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $15,000.00 plus costs against Donald Doran.  Mr. Doran is a licensed general contractor but is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and is using the seal of a licensed architect to submit drawings for permitting without the architect’s permission.

 

Ramon A. Fabregat
R.A. Fabregat and Associates, Inc.
Case No. 2006-048081
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $15,000.00 plus costs against Ramon Fabregat.  Mr. Fabregat is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and contracted to provide such services for a residential project.  Further, Mr. Fabregat is offering these services through a corporation without a certificate of authorization.

 

Felix Gurruchaga
Case No. 2005-060185
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a $10,000.00 fine plus costs against Felix Gurruchaga.  Mr. Gurruchaga is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and contracted to provide architectural services for a commercial project. 

 

Gary F. Haag

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a fine of $2,500.00 plus costs against Gary Haag.  Mr. Haag is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and contracted to provide signed and sealed drawings for a residence. 

 

Mark A. Hobson
Hobson & Studio 7 Architects, Inc.
Case Nos. 2006-044355 & 2006-052455
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing one year suspension, two years probation, reprimand, a fine of $3,750.00 against Mark Hobson.  It was alleged that Mr. Hobson abandoned a residential project and also prepared plans which were not sufficiently detailed.  Further, Mr. Hobson is offering architectural services through a business entity without a certificate of authorization and his letterhead does not include his license number.  The file was reviewed by the Board’s expert, Jerry Hicks, who determined that violations did occur. 

 

Earl G. Nelson
Case No. 2006-050282
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $30,000.00 against Earl Nelson.   Mr. Nelson was previously licensed; however, his license went delinquent on March 1, 1993 and then into a null and void status on March 1, 1995.  The complaint is based on two cases in which Mr. Nelson practiced architecture, held himself out as an architect and used his null and void license number. 

 

Michael O’Brien
Case No. 2006-033373
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing costs against Michael O’Brien.  Mr. O’Brien is a licensed professional engineer but not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and signed and sealed plans for a commercial project without the involvement of an architect.  The architectural drawings were prepared by an unlicensed draftsman that entered into a contract with the client himself to provide architectural drawings.

 

Mark Olesen
Case No. 2005-019002
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $500.00 fine against Mark Olesen.  The case was based upon a citation which was issued for failure to complete the code curriculum course.  Ms. Olesen’s license shall be suspended until he comes into compliance.

 

Norman D. Palmer
Case No. 2006-054876
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a reprimand, two years probation and fine $3,000.00 plus costs against Norman Palmer.  An unlicensed individual entered into a contract to provide signed and sealed plans for a commercial project.  Mr. Norman signed and sealed the drawings prepared by the unlicensed individual without ever meeting with the clients.  Further, Mr. Palmer was paid directly by the unlicensed individual.

 

Roland F. Patterson

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $15,000.00 plus costs against Roland Patterson.  Mr. Patterson is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and entered into a contract to perform architectural services for a commercial project.  Mr. Patterson’s business card offers architectural services and he prepared the plans for the project.

 

Thomas Perdue
Case No. 2005-021014
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a fine of $500.00 fine against Thomas Perdue.  The case was based upon a citation which was issued for failure to complete the code curriculum course.  Mr. Perdue’s license shall be suspended until he comes into compliance.

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $2,500.00 plus costs against RFM Design Associates, Inc.  Mr. Machen contracted to provide signed and sealed drawings for a residence.

 

Sandra Sanchez
Case No. 2006-005622
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $15,000.00 against Sandra Sanchez.  Ms. Sanchez is not licensed and the sign on the truck offers architectural services.  Ms. Sanchez is offering such services through a business entity without a certificate of authorization.  Further, Ms. Sanchez submitted residential plans for permitting with its corporate seal.

 

Kimberly J. Scudder
Case No. 2006-044950
 

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $1,000.00 plus costs against Kimberly Scudder.  Ms. Scudder is not licensed to practice interior design in Florida and was holding herself out as an interior design consultant on her business card. 

 

Ray M. Smith

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a reprimand and $3,500.00 fine plus costs against Ray Smith.  An unlicensed individual entered into a contract to provide signed and sealed plans for a residential project.  Mr. Smith signed and sealed the drawings prepared by the unlicensed individual without ever meeting with the clients.  Further, Mr. Smith was paid directly by the unlicensed individual and is operating through a business entity without a certificate of authorization.

 

Deborah M. Stevens

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $2,500.00 plus costs against Deborah Stevens.  Ms. Steven’s was previously licensed as an interior designer; however, her licensed is in a null and void status.  Ms. Stevens continued to offer interior design services.

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a fine of $15,000.00 plus costs against The Design Studio.  Ms. Dawes’ licensed to practice interior design is in a null and void status and she continued to offer interior design services.

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $10,000.00 plus costs against Leon Van Sikes.  Mr. Sikes is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and contract and provided architectural services for a residence and held himself out as an architect.

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $2,000.00 plus costs against Eudaldo Verdecia.  Mr. Verdecia is not licensed to practice architecture in Florida and contracted to provide such services for a residential project.  Mr. Verdecia held himself out as an architect and is offering architectural services through a professional association without a certificate of authorization.

 

Julie Wakely

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $5,000.00 plus costs against Julie Wakely.  Ms. Wakely is a resident of Canada and is not licensed to practice interior design in Florida.  Ms. Wakely preformed interior design services for one of her Canadian clients in Naples, Florida. 


 

Robert Zahradnik

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a reprimand and fine of $1,000.00 plus costs against Mr. Zahradnik.  Mr. Zahradnik is to practice architecture in Florida and is signing and sealing drawings for an unlicensed draftsman that is offering architectural services.  Mr. Zahradnik is paid directly by the unlicensed draftsman.  Both individuals are operating from offices over 18 miles apart.

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order approving a settlement stipulation imposing a fine of $500.00 plus costs against Zamparelli Architectural Group.  A citation was issued for practicing architecture without a certificate of authorization. 

 

John Zonata
Case Number 2006-005498

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design agreed to enter a final order imposing a fine of $20,000.00 against John Zonata.  Mr. Zonata contracted and provided architectural services for a day care center and residential project.
