Probable Cause was found that Steve Bass of Plantation, Florida is not licensed to practice interior design in the State of Florida and is offering space planning services in correspondence with a licensed architect. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued and an Administrative Complaint seeking fines was filed.

Brukman & Chechik, LLC
Sergio Brukman and Patricia Chechik De Brukman
Case No. 2005-038752

Probable Cause was found that Brukman & Chechik, LLC, Sergio Brukman and Patricia Chechik De Brukman of Coral Gables, Florida are not licensed to practice architecture in the State of Florida and contracted to provide architectural services on a condominium project and held themselves out as an architect in the title block. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued and an Administrative Complaint seeking fines was filed.

Davanti Architecture, Inc.

Case No. 2005-057921

Probable Cause was found that Davanti Architecture, Inc. of Ocala, Florida was previously licensed as an architectural firm in the State of Florida; however, the firm relinquished its license. The company changed its name to Davanti Designed Homes but the website for Davanti Architecture, Inc. continued to operate. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued along with the requirement that Tina Anastasia sign an affidavit stating the firm will refrain from offering architectural services or words to that effect and that she removed the website deleting any references to architecture or words to that effect. If Ms. Anastasia fails to return the affidavit, an Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed.

Probable Cause was found that Dream Key Designs, Inc. of Tarpon Springs, Florida is not licensed to practice architecture in the State of Florida and provided drawings to convert a residence into a commercial learning center. Their title block offers architectural and commercial design services and the firm is operating without a certificate of authorization. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued and an Administrative Complaint seeking fines was filed.

Probable Cause was found that Michael Foley of Pompano Beach, Florida is not licensed to practice architecture in the State of Florida and is offering architectural services in an advertisement that appeared in the Florida International Magazine. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued along with the requirement that Mr. Foley sign an affidavit stating he will refrain from offering architectural services or words to that effect and that he removed the advertisement deleting any references to architecture or words to that effect. If Mr. Foley fails to return the affidavit, an Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed.

Probable Cause was found that JCS Computer Drafting Services, Inc. of Royal Palm Beach, Florida is not licensed to practice architecture in the State of Florida and is advertising under the architect heading in the yellow pages. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued along with the requirement that Jonnie Smith sign an affidavit stating he will refrain from offering architectural services or words to that effect and that he will no longer advertise under the architect heading in the yellow pages. If Mr. Smith fails to return the affidavit, an Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed.

Probable Cause was found that Keating-Moore Construction Co. of Palm Beach, Florida is not licensed to practice architecture in the State of Florida and is offering architectural services in an advertisement that appeared in the Palm Beach Illustrated Magazine. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued along with the requirement that Joseph Keating sign an affidavit stating he will refrain from offering architectural services or words to that effect and that he will change the advertisement deleting any references to architecture or words to that effect. If Mr. Keating fails to return the affidavit, an Administrative Complaint seeking fines will be filed.

Probable Cause was found that Kundu Corporation of Miami, Florida is not licensed to practice architecture or interior design in the State of Florida and is offering interior design services and architectural detailing on its website. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued and an Administrative Complaint seeking fines was filed.

Probable Cause was found that Mary Ann Maffia of Fort Lauderdale, Florida is not licensed to practice interior design in the State of Florida and is offering interior design services on her business card and website. Further, Ms. Maffia is doing business as MM Interior Designs, Inc. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued and an Administrative Complaint seeking fines was filed.

Regan Reed
Case No. 2005-033884

Probable Cause was found that Regan Reed of Naples, Florida is not licensed to practice interior design in the State of Florida and is holding himself out as an interior designer in an advertisement in the Home and Design Magazine. A Notice and Order to Cease and Desist was issued and an Administrative Complaint seeking fines was filed.

Case No. 2005-062084

Probable Cause was found that Linda Suttles Akins of Statesboro, Georgia, a licensed interior designer in the State of Florida, violated chapter 481, Florida Statutes. The case is based on an audit of the continuing education credits claimed by Ms. Akins when she renewed her license. Ms. Akins affirmed at renewal that she had completed the required hours; however, it appears she only took seven continuing education hours during the audit period. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline was filed.

Susan Benyo
Case No. 2005-065722

Probable Cause was found that Susan Benyo of Austin, Texas, a licensed interior designer in the State of Florida, violated chapter 481, Florida Statutes. The case is based on an audit of the continuing education credits claimed by Ms. Benyo when she renewed her license. Ms. Benyo affirmed at renewal that she had completed the required hours; however, Ms. Benyo provided evidence of only completing 14 continuing education hours during the audit period. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline was filed.

Case No. 2005-054185

Probable Cause was found that Alan Cohen of Dania, Florida, is a licensed interior designer in the State of Florida, violated chapter 481, Florida Statutes. Mr. Cohen’s license was suspended for failure to take the Building Code core course. Mr. Cohen was never licensed to practice architecture in Florida and his website and advertisement offers both interior design and architectural design services. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline was filed.

James Goldman
Case No. 2005-017635

Probable Cause was found that James Goldman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a licensed architect in the State of Florida, violated Chapter 481, Florida Statutes. Mr. Goldman failed to provide to the Board of Architecture and Interior Design proof of completion of the core curriculum courses, or pass the equivalency test of the Building Code Training Program and a citation was issued. Mr. Goldman failed to respond to the citation. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline was filed.

Jimmy Griggs
Case No. 2005-018002

Probable Cause was found that Jimmy Griggs of Colleyville, Teas, a licensed architect in the State of Florida, violated Chapter 481, Florida Statutes. Mr. Griggs failed to provide to the Board of Architecture and Interior Design proof of completion of the core curriculum courses, or pass the equivalency test of the Building Code Training Program and a citation was issued. The citation was served by certified mail to Mr. Griggs’ address of record; however, there was no response. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline was filed.

Steven Hinst
Case No. 2005-037535

Probable Cause was found that Steven Hinst of Titusville, Florida, a licensed architect in the State of Florida, violated chapter 481, Florida Statutes. Mr. Hinst signed and sealed drawings for a dental office without ever meeting with the client. Further, the contract for the architectural services was entered into by a certified building contractor. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline was filed.

D. Scott Howard
Case No. 2005-045955

Probable Cause was found that D. Scott Howard of Bradenton, Florida, a licensed interior designer in the State of Florida, violated chapter 481, Florida Statutes. The case is based on an audit of the continuing education credits claimed by Mr. Howard when he renewed his license. Mr. Howard affirmed at renewal that he had completed the required hours; however, he provided evidence of only 15 continuing education hours during the audit period. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline was filed.

Probable Cause was found that Rebecca Lehde of Greenville, South Carolina, a licensed interior designer in the State of Florida, violated chapter 481, Florida Statutes. The case is based on an audit of the continuing education credits claimed by Ms. Lehde when she renewed her license. Ms. Lehde affirmed at renewal that she had completed the required hours; however, she provided evidence of only 14 continuing education hours during the audit period. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline was filed.

Probable Cause was found that Kevin McDonald of Arlington, Virginia, a licensed architect in the State of Florida, violated Chapter 481, Florida Statutes. Mr. McDonald failed to provide to the Board of Architecture and Interior Design proof of completion of the core curriculum courses, or pass the equivalency test of the Building Code Training Program and a citation was issued. The citation was served by certified mail to Mr. McDonald’s address of record, but there was no response. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline was filed.

Probable Cause was found that Mariela Martin-Fernandez of Miami, Florida, a licensed interior designer in the State of Florida, violated chapter 481, Florida Statutes. She affirmed at renewal that she had completed the required hours; however, she failed to provide proof of taking any continuing education hours during the audit period. Mr. Tovey failed to provide to the Board of Architecture and Interior Design proof of completion of the core curriculum courses, or pass the equivalency test of the Building Code Training Program and a citation was issued. The citation was served by certified mail to Mr. Tovey’s address of record but it was returned to the office. An Administrative Complaint seeking discipline was filed.
